At the end of 2021 the Government announced a package of measures to update the export control regime. Firstly, a revised version of the licensing criteria for strategic export controls, known as the Strategic Export Licensing Criteria, was set out. Also, it has been proposed, for potential approval and implementation in the first half of 2022, that the Military End-Use Controls should be revised, most notably with regard to the People’s Republic of China.

These changes may have significant implications for ADS members exporting to China who do not typically deal with export licensing considerations, who may now need to establish new due diligence processes. More broadly the revised licensing criteria may have impacts on future business development opportunities for ADS members.

To find out more about these changes, ADS is pleased to host a 1-hour webinar with the Government’s Export Control Joint Unit (ECJU), who will brief on the changes. The speakers include:

  • Dean Gallacher, Head UK and EU Policy, ECJU
  • Claire Harrison, Head of Business Awareness, ECJU
