ADS Group, UK, and the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), USA, are pleased to organise a new hybrid seminar to discuss the developments in US Export Controls. The free-to-attend event will enable attendees to hear from senior government officials from the three AUKUS nations most closely involved in the “once in a generation” major changes and reforms in the global trade control scene.

Background

Since the previous joint seminar organised by ADS Group and the AIA, which took place in Farnborough during the Farnborough International Airshow 2022, there have been huge developments on the export control scene. In particular, related to the trinational AUKUS initiative for the co-development and co-production of a wide range of advanced military technologies which had been agreed in September 2021 between the governments of Australia, the UK and the US.

These developments reached a climax on 1 May 2024 following the Bureau of Industry & Security releasing its proposed changes to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) on 18 April 2024, the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) releasing its proposals for changes to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and the Australian and British governments also releasing the details of their formal proposals to implement the necessary changes to help in the successful delivery of AUKUS on the same day. The consultation periods for all of these proposed changes have now closed and the DDTC is expected to finalise and publish its Final Rule on this sometime in mid-August.

Seminar

The seminar is open to all interested parties to attend, and to cater for the expected high level of interest, it will be possible to attend either in-person (limited places) or online. It was clear from close assessment of the information that had been published by the three nations, that there were a large number of practical questions that companies had about the implementation of this initiative. This event is likely to be the last opportunity that Industry is going to have to engage with the senior representatives of the AUKUS nations to discuss what is being proposed and to pose any unanswered queries that they may have on these proposals.

Delegates attending physically will have the opportunity to network informally with the speakers during the various networking breaks which will be provided, including over lunch.
