It can feel difficult to stand out from the crowd and to make your mark, especially when moving into a new role in the earlier stages of your career. While it may seem like you have the world to prove in a small space of time, and while it can be easy to compare your career and confidence level with others, this webinar explored some of the approaches you can take to sustainably accelerate your career by:

In this webinar, Steph Hanson - Senior HR Advisor, BAE Systems - introduced the concepts to help you hit the ground running, by enabling you to recognise your opportunities for improvement as well as how to use your strengths to your advantage, by introducing important concepts such as the Imposter Syndrome through the lens of both theory and practice c.f. Clance and Imes (1978), Young (2017), and Ervin (2018), and by sharing proven methods to help combat self-doubt, such as through feedback from mentors and trusted peers. 

About Steph Hanson

Steph Hanson is a systems-thinking HR professional, with a penchant for delivering presentations that bring theory and their application to real problems to life. With a background in Learning and Development, Talent and Performance, Comms and Engagement, and experience developing training for Executive and Professional employees, her career spans several HR projects and initiatives across BAE Systems.

Steph earned her MA at Durham University in 2019, and after studying for the CIPD Level 7, upgraded to a Chartered Member (Chartered MCIPD) in 2023.  Having joined BAE Systems in 2020 on the Company's Graduate Scheme, prior to commencing a role in Head Office as a Capability and Skills Lead, her most recent venture sees her moving back into Submarines to continue to broaden her experiences as part of the Submarines - Integrated Combat Systems HR team, where she will be partnering with the business on the delivery of key people priorities.

Her creative passion and outside-of-the-box thinking have empowered her to support a culture that thrives on rapid problem solving in an ever-changing environment and that enables the prioritisation of objectives maximising value add.
