Biography:

Megan Naylor:

Having had a childhood passion for aviation, Megan completed her Master’s in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Sheffield in 2021. BAE Systems’ Undergraduate Sponsorship Scheme afforded Megan the opportunity to carry out internships and placements within the company throughout her degree, in roles ranging from Engineering Integration to Flight Test. Throughout University, Megan was also a member of the University Air Squadron, a branch of the RAF Reserves that enables students to experience opportunities within the military whilst studying. Upon graduating Megan returned to BAE Systems as a Mission Planning Engineer: a role which would allow her to take advantage of both her experience with the military customer and the technical knowledge gained through her Master’s degree. She now lives in Norfolk and enjoys spending her free time playing with her dog, running and reading. Alongside these hobbies, she also runs a blog called MegInSTEM, which aims to provide guidance and resources to those who are interested in a career in STEM. Megan’s blogs cover a huge range of topics, from work experience to mental health, and she hopes that by sharing her experiences she can encourage others to consider a career in STEM.

Nathan Selman:

Growing up fascinated by space, aircraft and all things that leave the surface of the planet, Nathan always knew he wanted to be involved in big projects in the world of aerospace. It was through a number of engineering-related hobbies, extra-curricular courses and classes at school that Nathan developed a love for aerospace engineering, and so jumped at the opportunity to pursue his passion for aerospace engineering through a degree apprenticeship at BAE Systems, where he would gain invaluable practical experience alongside his degree.

Since joining the company, Nathan has had a number of amazing opportunities and experiences. From working with real aircraft and industry experts to speaking on a panel at Farnborough Airshow, as well as personal development opportunities like an orienteering and adventure week in the Lake District, he is loving the choice that he made and is keen to improve awareness of the various apprenticeship schemes on offer.
