TODAY'S R&D IS TOMORROW'S COMMERCIAL ADVANTAGE - ARE YOU TAKING ADVANTAGE OF OUR R&D IN SCOTLAND?
ADS Scotland is delighted to partner with Scottish Universities on the supplementary briefing series focussing on topics around R&D Technology.
The next supplementary session is on:
An introduction to CISpaces and automated decision making - University of St Andrews
The School of Computer Science at St Andrews is a small and friendly school with strong research groups in Artificial Intelligence, Constraint Programming, Programming Languages, and Systems. This talk will give a briefing of research underway and interests of particular interest to the ADS community, with deep dives into two particular research areas:
- An introduction to CISpaces, a system to support collaborative intelligence analysis. CISpaces uses computational argumentation techniques to support analysts in making sense of information acquired from a variety of information sources, facilitating rapid identification of plausible hypotheses to produce more robust intelligence products.
- An introduction to research on automated decision making an optimisation methods, languages and systems. These allow an effective way of determining an optimal course of action. The inputs to a system like this are more than just raw data, we allow injecting domain-specific expert knowledge into the system; there are wide-ranging applications within logistics, planning, and optimisation.
Speakers:
- Dr Susmit Sarkar, Director of Impact
- Dr Alice Toniolo, Lecturer
- Dr Özgür Akgün, Lecturer
