Over the past couple of decades, technology has rapidly and fundamentally changed the way that we live.
Ten years ago, only a few university students had access to Facebook and smart phones didn’t yet exist.
Since then, people around the globe have benefited from the introduction of GPS tracking, new communications platforms and electronic payment systems.
Criminal and terrorist elements have also taken advantage of these technologies, however.
We have also seen social media used to launch revolutions and co-ordinate terrorist attacks, crypto-currencies used to launder money and drones used to deliver contraband into prisons.
This is the space in which the UK security sector sits.
