ADS are monitoring EU REACH regulations closely, through the ADS Sustainable Materials (SusMat) Working Group, to raise awareness of the impacts to our sectors and the value chains of our member organisations. The SusMat Working Group assists ADS members in understanding and managing the risks associated with hazardous substances and to coordinate, communicate, and promote information exchange.
The existing Hexavalent Chromate/Chromium Trioxide EU Authorisation expires on 21 September 2024. ADS have been working with key stakeholders including the AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD), to look at the considerations on possible delays for the EU REACH (re)authorisation of Chromates CR(VI) for the Aerospace & Defence sectors.
The implications of EU REACH and the (re)authorisation of Chromates CR(VI) will directly impact UK based companies throughout the aerospace and defence sectors. Without the necessary authorisations in place, aircraft and defence programs will suffer due to an inability to manufacture and import/export parts. It is also worth noting the additional complexities presented by Northern Ireland remaining under the remit of EU REACH.
ADS is highlighting to the European Commission, through ASD, the multi-national supply chain risk faced by a lack of clarity regarding next steps in the decision timeline for the chromates authorisations submitted in the EU by the Aerospace and Defence Chromates Reauthorisation (ADCR) Consortium.
ADCR are hosting an FAQ webinar on the 12 September, 16:00 CEST, for downstream users with unanswered questions about ADCR Chromium (VI) Applications for Authorisation under EU and/or UK REACH.
The event will provide attendees with
• Answers to your ADCR Cr(VI) applications questions and concerns.
• An understanding of how to meet ongoing obligations under EU and UK REACH Regulations.
• Valuable perspectives on EU ADCR applications for authorisation directly from a European Commission representative.
Don’t miss this opportunity to gain clarity and confidence in managing your REACH authorisation and downstream user responsibilities.
Register now to secure your spot. Send an email to adcr-info@rpaltd.co.uk with ‘ADCR Webinar’ as the subject, your name and company affiliation. Registration is open until Tuesday 10 September COP.
