ADS would like to gauge levels of interest to join the United Kingdom Pavilion at LAAD Defence & Security 2025: the largest defence and security trade show in Latin America.

As well as a strong Naval focus, LAAD encompasses defence and security on a variety of other fronts: Army, Air Force, Public and Corporate Security. The exhibition brings together local and international companies that provide technologies, equipment, and services for Public Security, Police Forces, Special Forces, Armed Forces, Security Bodies, Law Enforcement, Security Managers of large corporations, and critical infrastructure companies in Brazil and Latin America.

The event serves as an excellent showcase for the exposure of your brand and has the institutional support of federal, state, and municipal security bodies; the Ministry of Defence; the Armed Forces; the Ministry of Justice; and Public Security.

Market Insight

Following the signing of the Defence Capability Collaboration Arrangement by the UK Foreign Secretary and Brazilian Foreign Minister in February 2024, we are working with Brazilian partners on how the UK can achieve the agreement set out. This arrangement aims to help modernise Brazil’s defence industrial base through UK expertise, significantly strengthening UK-Brazil ties.

The UK and Brazil have long sustained a strong economic relationship, with over 800 British companies currently operating within Brazil. Moving forward, equipment modernisation by 2031 has been identified as a key driver of Brazilian military procurement, and Brazil’s desire for technological development has strengthened its commitment to international procurement programmes that deliver technology transfer. This has been exemplified during the requirement for 36 multirole fighter aircraft, for which Gripen, with 35% of its components sourced from the UK, was selected with the aim of establishing a domestic network.

Similarly, with the purchase of HMS Ocean from the Royal Navy as the new flagship of the Brazilian Navy, UK industry ties have drawn ever closer. Both BAE Systems and Babcock are now embedded in the Arsenal de Marinha do Rio de Janeiro, the main maintenance centre and naval base of the Brazilian Navy, to deliver through-life support and modernisation of the vessel, with support from teams based in the UK.

Brazil has placed great importance on the defence industrial base becoming a pillar of the country’s future economic growth, as underlined in the government’s Accelerated Growth Programme. Through this programme, Brazil is looking to foster commercial and technological ties between partner nations.

LAAD 2025 will provide an excellent platform for UK industry, supported by the UK Government, to better utilise this Government-to-Government, (G2G), and Industry-to-Industry cooperation.
